Clausell Stokes, Sr. traded time for eternity on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from his earthly residence in Jackson, AL. He was born February 15, 1935 to the late George and Augusta Murphy Stokes, Sr. He was married to Irene Williams and worked as a mechanic at Timberland Ford in Grove Hill, AL. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Barlow Bend, AL where he served in several capacities to include deacon, sunday school superintendant, treasurer, and choir member. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Stokes, Jr.; three sisters, Ada Bush, Mildred McConico, and Annie Bell Jackson.
Clausell leaves to forever cherish his loving memories: his devoted wife, Irene Williams Stokes, Gainestown, AL.; four sons, Rev. Chester (Sandra) Williams, Mobile, AL, Clausell (Vickie) Stokes, Houston, TX, Jamey (Edith) Stokes, Gainestown, AL, and Frank Stokes, Pearland, TX; one daughter, Mildred Stokes, Mobile, AL; thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rev. Tommie Moore will officiate the Saturday services at Union Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Good Hope Church Cemetery.
