Gillis Lee Jenkins, affectionately know as “Gate” departed this life on Saturday, March 16, 2019 while at his Fairhope, AL residence. Born August 22, 1962 to King James Jenkins and Evelyn Campbell, he was fifty-six years of age.
Gate was educated in the Clarke County Public School System before going out into the workforce. He was an avid University of Alabama football fan.
Preceding him in death were his father, King James Jenkins; and grandparents, Elisha (Elizabeth) Jackson, and King James (Lela) Jenkins.
Gillis leaves to forever cherish his precious memories his five children, Latrice (Romero) Perdue, Gillis (Dystany) Dubose, and Shermane (Anthony Brown) Dubose, all of Fairhope, AL, Deeotis Dubose, and Yuvone (Quindera) Crayton, Jackson, AL; mother, Evelyn J. Campbell, Daphne, AL; nine siblings, William (Patricia) Caves, Jackson, AL, Johnnie (Cassie) Jackson, Detroit, MI, Dennis Jones, Jackson, AL, Evelyn (Hiriam) Stanton, Fairhope, AL, James Jenkins, and Kenny Jackson, Detroit, MI, Barbara Gayle Singleton, Saraland, AL, King James (Georgia) Jenkins, II, Ozark, AL, and Donna McGhee, Wagarville, AL; sixteen grandchildren; two devoted friends, Melvin Lovett, and Dennis James, both of Fairhope, AL; three devoted cousins, Wanda Scott, Foley, AL, Thelma Scott, Foley, AL, and Alfred Jackson, Daphne, AL; God-mother, Edna Whittle, St. Stephens, AL; God-sister, Amy Gibbons, Theodore, AL; five uncles; one aunt; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
