Henry Floyd Thornton II was born Jan. 12, 1975 in Joliet, Ill., to Henry F. Thornton Jr. and Rosettia Dunning Thornton. He passed away suddenly Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Henry graduated from Joliet West High School. He was employed with Maaco Auto and Collision Repair for many years. Always a happy, jolly person who enjoyed joking around with his family members and friends, he was very loving and friendly. He was loved by anyone he encountered. Henry’s children were the love of his life and he was always happy to be in their presence, as they were to be with him. A favorite pastime was working on automobiles and repairing them.
Henry is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Georgia and John Lee Dunning; paternal grandparents, Estella and Henry Thornton; aunt, Genettia Dunning; uncle, William Thornton and cousin, John Dunning.
Survivors include his wife, Tiffany Smith Thornton; six daughters, Maliyah Mariah, Hennesi, Diamond, Egypt Thornton and Makyliah Tyler; two sons, Henry Thornton and Maurice Tyler; mother, Rosettia Dunning Thornton, all of Joliett, Ill.; father, Henry Thornton Jr. of Coffeeville; one brother, Lance (Tasha) Thornton of Joliet; one nephew and one niece; two grandchildren of Joliet; five aunts, Robertia Dunning of Joliet, Linda Dunning (James) Reynolds of Birmingham, Elaine Dunning (Jimmy) Thigpen of Morvin, Delois Jenkins of Elwood, Ill., and Ollie Ferrell of Fort Worth, Texas; one uncle, Darryl Thornton of Santa Cruz, Calif., and a host of cousins. He will also be missed by his closest friends, Sterling Mack and Tracy Auspin.
