Lester Carl "Jimmy" Ludgood was born in Carlton, Alabama on December 4, 1956 to the late Mary Ellen and Clarence Ludgood. He was born seventh of 12 children. Lester (Jimmy) was reared and resided in Carlton for 25 years, moved briefly to St. Louis, resided in Rockville for 28 years and spent his remaining years in Jackson. He departed this life on July 11, 2019 to begin his eternal life.
Lester left doing what he loved to do, spending time with his cousin Willie (Papi’) Bush Jr. Lester frequently spoke with laughter of this relationship and how he had to “show Papi what to do”. During his sixty-two years of life he left an indelible impression on the hearts and minds of the many whose life path crossed his, particularly those of his very large family and friends. He is remembered for his generous spirit. Always willing to help others, he loved to walk to and from uncles, aunts and cousins houses in his earlier years, checking on their wellbeing. He had a deep understanding of life and would say such profound expressions as “the answer is always there if you just look.” Lester loved music and could quickly name an artist by hearing the song, he loved games, watching westerns, going places and making challenges that were in his favor of winning. He loved his nieces and nephews, offered them countless pieces of advice, smiles, hugs and money if those things weren’t enough. He gave freely of himself to all who had the privilege to know him well. Lester demonstrated his love of God through his words and deeds.
Lester is preceded in death by his grandparents Rev. Ross (Emily) Bush, and Idella Scott and Robert Nichols; his parents Mary Ellen Ludgood and Clarence Ludgood; four brothers and two sisters Clarine Phelan, Roy Ludgood, Thomas Ludgood, Earnest Ludgood, David Ludgood and Norine Ludgood.
He is survived by five siblings; Mary (Willie) Donald, Sandra (Alfredo) Farias, Bessie Harris, all of Jackson, AL, Tracy (Sara) Ludgood, Caledonia MN and Dina (Gregory) Savage, Mcdonough, GA. Lester also leaves to cherish his memory of a blessed life a loving aunt, Emma Washington, Mobile, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and cherished friends.
