Overseer Myrtle Lee Adams Brown departed this earthly life at her McIntosh, AL residence to begin life anew in a better place on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Born September 18, 1932 to the union of Joe and Patsy Lang Adams, she was 86 years of wisdom. She met and married Bishop Phillip Brown and this union was blessed with a beautiful family. Devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, kind neighbor, loyal friend, truly dedicated and committed servant of Christ are just a few words to describe the life of Mother Brown.
A member of Free Holiness Church in Chatom, AL, her service to God and humankind included visiting the nursing homes and hospitals ministering to the needs of the patients. She got great pleasure out of gardening, raising her flowers, and maintaining her yard.
Preceding her in death were her loving and devoted husband, Bishop Phillip Brown; daughter, Dora Jean Brown; son, Bishop Willie James Brown; parents, Joe and Patsy Adams; six brothers, Joseph Adams, Bush Adams, Jessie Adams, Leo Adams, Caleisby Adams, Sandy Adams, and Ezelle Adams; three sisters, Eddie V. Reed, Charlotte Adams, and Etoria A. Toole.
Left to forever cherish the memories that embrace her love for family, friends, people in general and her God are two sons, Phillip (Pearlie) Brown, Jr., McIntosh, AL and Joe (Pamela) Brown, Norcross, GA; one adopted son, Rutland (Sandra) Tolbert, McIntosh, AL; eleven daughters, Betty (Edwin) Burke, Chickasaw, AL, Linden Scott, Fannie (Leroy) Adams, Dianna Brown, Erma (Nolan) Hardy, all of McIntosh, AL, Lillie Bolar, Norcross, GA, Rosetta (Craig) Collins, Billie (Patrick) Barnes, and Monica (Danny) Thomas all of McIntosh, AL, Arletha Brown, Mobile, AL and Debra (Patrick) Collins, Moss Point, MS; over fifty grandchildren and great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law, Adell Adams, Willie Mae Adams, and Betty Adams, all of McIntosh, AL, Dora Robinson, Sunflower, AL, Floretta Bush, Annette Austin, and Helen Moore, all of Mobile, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
