Stella Curtis Jackson was born on Nov. 15, 1938 to the late James W. Boykin and Bessie Lucas in Mobile, AL. She was a member of the 1957 graduating class of Mobile County Training School, and following graduation, Stella moved to the Lilly Valley community where she resided the remainder of her life. She enjoyed gospel quartet singing and spending time with family.
Preceding her in death was a son, Terrence Boykin; grandson, Kendrick Davis; brother, Peter Boykin; and a sister, Lucy Brazil.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Freeman Jackson; six children, the Rev. Kevin (Min. Rosharon) Boykin Sr. of Jackson, AL, Stephanie (Lawrence) Hicks, Greta Washington and Tracy Curtis, all of Mobile, AL, Gerald (Teresa) Curtis of Silas, AL and Lonnie Curtis, Jr. of Saraland, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Xavier Taylor, Dr. Nerkissa Dixon, Shakeita Stokes, Kevin Boykin, Jr., Stephon Boykin, Isiah Boykin, Ryan Hicks, Terrlyn Boykin, Sherika Boykin, Tamera Boykin, Tyler Washington, Lexie Williams and Geramy Curtis; fifteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leroy Gable, Sr., James Boykin, Jr. and Jason (Denise) Craig, all of Mobile, AL; five sisters, Shirley Burden of Colorado Springs, CO, Doris Boykin Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Lynda Boykin Sidney, New Orleans, LA, Emily (Ronald) Tucker and Jerrilyn (Michael) Osifo, both of Mobile, AL; with other nieces, nephews and relatives, one devoted, Sherry Brown of Birmingham, AL and friends.
