Valory Henri Rocker

November 27, 1960 ~ July 1, 2019 (age 58)

Valory Henri Rocker was born Nov. 27, 1960 in Choctaw Bluff to Annie J. Rocker. He departed this life Monday, July 1, 2019 at the age of 58. He united with the New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.

 

Valory had been employed as a brick mason by various companies. Also an entrepreneur, he laid bricks for many throughout the community for more than twenty years. He loved fishing, hunting and horseback riding. His favorite saying was “It ain’t that easy!”

 

Preceding him in death was his father, Henry Lee Nettles; brother, Mark Orlando Porter; and grandparents Belle and Johnny Rocker and Julia and Henry Nettles.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted mother, Annie J. Rocker Carroll of Choctaw Bluff, AL; one son, Jermaine Wills of Mobile, AL; eight sisters, one devoted, Barbara Niles of Mobile, AL, Burnerdean (Paul) Williams of Yellow Bluff, AL, Rose (Derek) Johnson, Gwendolyn (Levearne) Nettles, Shirley Nettles and Lisa (Tony) Pierce, all of Mobile, AL, and Aqunatie Nettles, Atlanta, GA; three brothers, James Albert (Odell) Porter of Spokane, Wash., Lester (Sharon) Nettles and Carl Nettles, both of Mobile, AL; nine aunts, Shirley (Frank) Richardson and Lauretta (David) Taylor, both of Choctaw Bluff, AL, Mary E. Rocker, Catherine Rocker and Mable Hunt, all of Mobile, AL, Geraldine Nettles of Yellow Bluff, AL, Betty J. Burk of Newport, RI, Addie (Albert) Lyles of Pensacola, FL, and Thelma (Willie) Rogers of Atlanta, GA; four uncles, one devoted, J.C. (Claudia) Rocker and Chester Rocker, both of Choctaw Bluff, AL, Donnie (Mertlene) Nettles of Yellow Bluff, AL and Melvin (Sharon) Nettles of Mobile, AL; a friend, Wanda Wills of Mobile, AL; two goddaughters, LaShar Stallworth and Martine Rocker; devoted great-niece, Mackinley Woods; four devoted friends, Randolph Wiggins, Rodney Perine, Tony Council and Arthur E. Jackson; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
