Alfred Ladon Pendleton was born to the late Rosetta and Truman Johns Sept. 26, 1963. He made his transition to eternal rest Thursday, April 29, 2021, fulfilling his final wish at his home in Whatley.
As a child, Alfred joined the First Baptist Church of Whatley. He was considered the neighborhood mechanic. If you had a problem, he could fix it. He was a member of the graduating Class of 1984 at Clarke County High School. Quiet, loving and funny are just a few words that describe Alfred.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Carlos McDole; three brothers, Michael Pendleton, Edward Pendleton and Jackie Johns; and one sister, Dorothy Mae Pendleton.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted daughter, Kayla McDole of Toledo, Ohio; nine sisters, Lois Dailey, Martha Hunt, Shann Taylor and Doris Burroughs, all of Whatley, Janice Bills and Thelma Pendleton of Toledo, Ohio, Angela, Effie and Alanna Johns, all of California; six brothers, Tommie Lee Pendleton of Whatley, Bobby Pendleton of Grove Hill, Chester (Michelle) Johns of Georgia, Wilmer Johns of Toledo, Ohio, and Devan and Terry Burroughs; four uncles, Nick (JoAnn) Faile of Toledo, Ohio, Robert (Irene) Hill of Whatley, Albert Hill of California and J.C. Pendleton of Grove Hill; five aunts, Bertha Ezell of Whatley, Evon Chapman of New York, Dorothy Rather of Delaware, Velma and Augusta of Flint, Michigan; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; devoted nieces, Tasha Pendleton, Ciara Pendleton and Lisa Hunt, all of Whatley; special friend, Sherry McMillian and devoted friends, Nolan Chapman and Henry Horn, both of Grove Hill; and close cousins, Garry Johnson and Woodie Gillard.
A graveside service will be Saturday, May 8, 1 p.m., at First Baptist Church Cemetery, 26820 US 84, Whatley, AL. The Rev. Fernell Pendleton, pastor, will be the eulogist.
