Obituary

Alfred Lee West of the Walker Springs community, better known to family and friends as "Pete," made his earthly transition Dec. 26, 2022, while at Jackson Health Care in Jackson. Alfred was born May 20, 1938 to Sallie Gladys Ezell West and James Alexander West in the Walker Springs community. Early in life he was a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church in Walker Springs.

Pete, as he was fondly called, was a very kind and compassionate person who loved the outdoors and gardening. 

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Robert Lee West and Elbert Harold West; and sisters, Martha West Davis, Mary West Lumbers and Geraldine West. 

Left to cherish his memories are his three daughters, Joylyn Rodgers and Carolyn Wright, both of Jackson, and Patricia West of Monroeville; one sister, Ella Louise West Brown of Jackson; brothers, Joel Columbus West and Charlie (Linda) West, both of New York City, N.Y., Willie Clarence (Rosalyn) West of Fayetteville, N.C., and Prince (Renee) West of Summerville, S.C.; with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
