Ardell Nix - Poellnitz Obituary

Ardell Nix-Poellnitz, age 74, was born August 15, 1948 in the Vernel community of Leaksville, Miss. Ardell was born to the late Elder Rubin Nix & the late Mrs. Mary Louise Savage Nix. Ardell, departed this life Oct 23, 2022 at Providence Hospital at the Covenant Hospice Center in Mobile. 

At an early age she united with Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Vernal, Miss. She relocated to Jackson and united with the AOH Church of God under the leadership of Bishop M.L. Lilly. Ardell received her education at Leakesville High prior to moving and finished her education at Harper High School. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family, spending quality time with her grandchildren spoiling them, and keeping them on the straight and narrow path. She loved football and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to her parents, Ardell was preceded in death by her son, Micheal A. Poellnitz; sister, Ruby Nix of St. George; brother, Carl D. Nix; grandparents, Charles Savage, Sallie Savage, James Nix and Hannah Nix.

Many wonderful memories will be pondered in the hearts of her loving and devoted children, including two daughters, Margaret (Vakise) Wimberly of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Priscilla Frowner of Jackson; two sons, Elder Johnny (Amanda) Poellnitz Jr. of Walker Springs and Thomas Poellnitz of Leroy; sister, Lillie Nix Smith of Toddtown; three brothers, Edward Nix of Jackson, Billy Nix of Detroit, Mich., and Aaron (Cassandra) Nix of Decatur, Ga.; one aunt, Alberta Nix of Moss Point, Miss.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and loved forever by a host of nieces, nephews, including devoted niece, Darlene Davis and two devoted nephews, Robert E. Smith and Ralph Nix; with other family and friends, including special friends, Vera I. Poellnitz of Pittsburg, Pa., Marion Goodwin, Janice Hatfield, James Carstaphen and Joyce Gamble, all of Jackson, and Doris Scott of Mobile.

Graveside service was Sunday, Oct. 29, 2 p.m., at Good Hope Cemetery in Gainestown, with eulogist, Elder Johnny Poellnitz Jr.
