Arengia Knight Obituary

Arengia Jackson Knight entered into eternal rest on Tuesday April 30, 2019 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.

Arengia was the second of three beautiful daughters born to L.J and Susie Adams Jackson of Thomasville, AL. 

She was a graduate of Thomasville Public High School. She received her Bachelors Degree from Alabama State University, Montgomery, AL. and her Masters Degree from Livingston University, presently known as The University of West Alabama. She began her teaching career in Pineapple, AL. in Wilcox County. After teaching there one year, she taught the remaining years in the Thomasville City School System-retiring after 35 years of service. Even though she taught other subjects and grade levels, she was affectionally known to majority of her students as "My 1st Grade teacher-book i one hand, chalk in the other, and the paddle at  her fingertips"

Besides being a very dedicated teacher, Arengia was also a royal and faithful lifetime member of Williams Temple CME Church where she served as a Steward. Not only did she support her church generously, she gave to numerous charitable organizations through the years.

Arena was a member of the Alabama Education Association and the National Education Association. She was a strong advocate of Civil Rights. She was a member of NAACP and the Dravitan Civic Club.

Arengia was married to the late Raymond Knight of Montgomery, AL. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband and parents were two nephews, Dwayne Byrd and Cornelius Stokes.

She leaves to cherish her precious two sisters: Gloria (Melvin) Byrd, Aurora, IL. and Sallye Howard of Thomasville, AL. two nieces; Shanaulia Byrd of Aurora, IL., LaNaye Stokes of Montgomery, AL., two nephews: Ivan Byrd of Aurora, IL., and Christopher (Angela) Howard of Thomasville, AL., three great nephews: Jonathan, Henry and Diego. Three great nieces: Natalie, Angel, and Kristin. A host of other beloved relatives and friends.
