Australia Williams Jackson departed this life Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019 at Providence Hospital in Mobile.
Australia Williams Jackson was born Sept. 21, 1940 to the parentage of Gertrude and Richard Williams in Gainestown. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Good Hope A.M.E. Church in Gainestown. Later, she moved her membership to James Chapel Baptist Church in Barlow Bend, where she served as president of the Usher Board and Sunday School treasurer until her health failed. She met and married Leonard Jackson Sr. July 13, 1957. To this union two sons were born. She retired from the Clarke County Board of Education having been a bus driver for many years.
Preceding her in death were her father, Richard Williams; mother, Gertrude Williams; husband, Leonard Jackson Sr.; son, Calvin Jackson and brother, Paul Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted son, Leonard (Valeria) Jackson Jr. of Walker Springs; one loving and devoted granddaughter, Lakeitha (Renard) Knight; two grandsons, Leonard B. Jackson III and Kendrick (Brenda) Jackson; five great-grandchildren; one devoted daughter-in-law, Dorah Jackson of Barlow Bend; one loving and devoted sister, Irene Stokes of Gainestown; sister-in-law, Mary Rivers of Mobile; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson, AL 36545.
