Ben Edward Powell

Ben Edward Powell was born March 18, 1951 to Ben Powell Jr. (L.R.) and Cassie B. Reed Powell of Wagarville. Ben loved hunting, fishing and being a truck driver, but especially being a father and grandfather.

Ben accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized in the Holy Spirit in a Bible study at Lewis Grove Baptist Church under Prophetess Wynette Workman during the pastoral leadership of the Rev. Bobby Johnson.

He departed his earthly life for the spiritual realm on March 17, 2024 at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson.

Ben will be missed by his close-knit family and friends.

Preceding him in death is his son, Jerome McAdoo; his parents; and two brothers, James Powell and Charles Edward Powell.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories four daughters, Womateder Nash of Leroy, Terathia Thomas of Akron, Ohio, Rochelle McAdoo and Kimora Petty of Jackson; grandchildren, Avery, Akira and Jaben of Leroy, Janiya and Tyre of Wagarville, and Antwain Strong Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Kiarra Young of Akron, Ohio, and Laken and Kash of Wagarville; special and devoted friend, Mae London; eight sisters, Dora Jackson of Gainestown, Sonya Powell of Citronelle, Rose Powell, Barbara Bragg (Albert), Cheryl Powell, Kimberly Jackson, Marsha Powell and Nellie Powell, all of Wagarville; aunts, Effie Powell Roberts (Willie), Gwendolyn Powell and Jeanette Powell, all of Wagarville, Mary Powell of Jackson and Rosetta Powell of Mobile; special acknowledgements to nephews, Terrence Gaines and LaCedric Bragg; cousins, Wilmer Powell Jr. and Donnie Ray Powell, and Robert Reed; god-daughter, Jazmine McCleary; and Maurice Johnson and McIntosh High School Class of 1969.
