Benjamin L. "Ben" Sims Sr.

Benjamin Lee Sims Sr., better known to family and friends as "Ben," was a resident of the Sunflower community. He exchanged his life for eternal joy on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, while at Jackson Medical Center. Ben was born on Oct. 24, 1935 to Lucille James Sims and Jordan Sims in Moss Point, Miss.  

A very quiet man, Ben loved fishing, hunting and spending time with this family. He worked for many years with C.E. Harrell & Company until retiring.  

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Mary J. Kelly; and granddaughter, Tamisha Johnson.

Left to cherish his loving memories is his devoted wife of 67 years, Mary F. Sims of Sunflower; children, Betty Sims, Sharon (Cliff) Brown, Regina (Al) Portis and Angela Sims, all of Sunflower, Ben (Angela) Sims of Montgomery, David (Sheena) Sims of Thomasville and Dexter (Tera) Sims of Toddtown; brother-in-law, Osie Jackson of Washington, D.C. and a sister-in-law, Ella M. Sims of Moss Point, Miss.; 28 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren  and eight great-great-grandchildren; with a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
