Deacon Bennie Whiteside Frowner of the Manila community departed this life quietly Wednesday evening, June 5th, 2024, while at Jackson Health Care in Jackson. He was born to the Rev. Ellis C. Frowner and Mary Ann Frowner on April 19, 1946 in the Manila community. Bennie confessed Christ as a child, and was baptized at St. Matthew No. 1 Baptist Church in Manila, where he later became a deacon, serving and remaining a faithful member until his death.
Preceding him in death were his parents, the Rev. Ellis C. Frowner and Mary Ann Frowner; son, Thomas Dwayne Frowner; brothers, Ellis Jr., Edward, Clayton, Jessie, David, Mack and Phillip; sisters, Essie Von, Nellie, Florence and Edna; sisters-in-law, Beverly and Alice Frowner; and brothers-in-law, Earl Williams and Freeman Kirksey.
Left to cherish his memories is his son, Earnest Frowner of Manila; daughter, Daytara Frowner of Mobile; eight grandchildren, Ernest (LaTasha) Frowner, Rovecchia Rivers, Shalithia Frowner, Thomas Frowner, Mamie Frowner, Joshua Washington, Damarius Frowner and D'mauri Frowner; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, the Rev. Webster Frowner of Kanas City, Kan. and devoted the Rev. Henry (Martha) Frowner of Manila; one sister, Mary Lee Kirksey of South Holland Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Annie Frowner and Aretha Frowner; with a host of nieces; faithful caregiver, Rose Hunt; devoted nieces, Kim, MarQuita and Shonda Frowner; nephews, one devoted, Connie Frowner; with other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, June 13, from 2 until 4:30 p.m., at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 11 a.m., at Antioch AME Church 12906 Walker Springs Rd, Gainestown, AL. Interment will follow in the Frowner Family Cemetery in Manila, AL.
