Beverly Coker- Bass Obituary

Beverly Jean Coker Bass, a native of Bladon Springs and a resident of Mobile, made her earthly transition on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021 while at USA Health Hospital in Mobile. Beverly was born June 13, 1959 to Martha Lee Campbell Coker and Henry Coker Sr. Early in life she joined the Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Baldon Springs. Beverly attended Alabama State University and later the University of West Alabama. She began her teaching career in the Choctaw County Public School System from 1981 until 2004. She then taught at Calloway-Smith Middle School in Mobile until her retirement in 2014.

Beverly loved her family dearly and enjoyed visiting and spending time with her sisters and especially her grandchildren.

Her favorite hobbies were cooking and taking care of her beautiful flowers. Beverly was an avid die-hard New Orleans Saints fan!

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, James Bass III; and devoted companion, Ricky Maiben.

Left to cherish her loving memories are her two loving daughters, Dorothy Coker of Marietta, Ga., and Jamie Bass of Mobile; three sisters, Audrey Coker Smith of Jackson, and Rebecca and Elizabeth Coker, both of Bladon Springs; one brother, Henry (Louvina) Coker of Bladon Springs; three devoted grandchildren, DeOnta Coker, Garak Coker and Mason Stokes, all of Marietta, Ga.; three uncles, Freddie (Donna) Campbell and Samuel Davis Jr., both of Mobile, and James (Shirley) Coker of Louisville, Ky.; four aunts, Rosie Merida of Frankville, Zella Duff of Montgomery, Alice Campbell of Mobile and Henrietta Powe of Mayo, Fla.; two nieces, Rachael Coker of Bladon Springs and LaShana Coker of Thomasville; four nephews, Henry Coker Jr. of Dixon Mills, Keith Coker, Mikel Coker and Daylan Coker, all of Bladon Springs; with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.
