Chester Mack Rivers Jr., a native and resident of McIntosh, traded time for eternity on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, while at Spring Hill Medical in Mobile. Born on Dec. 28, 1970 to Julia Wright Rivers and Chester Mack Rivers Sr., he was 50 years of age.
Chester was a 1989 graduate of McIntosh High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. He received numerous medals and awards, including the South West Asia Medal, Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Marksmanship Badge Grenade, Marksmanship Badge Rifle, and Kuwait Liberation Medal. After returning home he began working at Olin as a chemical operator.
Preceding him in death were his father, Chester Mack Rivers, Sr. ; grandparents, James Rivers and Matestor Davis Rivers, and Erwin Wright and Inez Finch Wright; with other aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his mother, Julia Wright Rivers of McIntosh; sister, Angela R. Rivers of Dallas, Texas; niece, Tia Quinney; nephew, Caleb Quinney; two great-nephews, Jayden Johnson and Carson Quinney; great-niece, Zachariah Versey, all of Dallas, Texas; four aunts, Hattie McGhee, Irene (Johnny) Pogue, Lelia McCants and Eleanor Green; five uncles, Spencer (Eula) Rivers, Jesse Rivers, Carlos (Carol) Wright, McArthur (Cynthia) Wright and Amos Wright; with a host of cousins, other relatives, classmates and friends.
