Deacon Calvin Nelson Burton was born Oct. 17, 1962 to the late Jim Gulley and Lillie Mae Burton. He departed this life for his heavenly home on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021.
A faithful and dedicated member and deacon of the House of Prayer World Wide Ministries, Deacon Burton was always willing to lend a hand at his church and within the community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
Preceding him in death are his father, Jim Gulley; brother, Jesse Burton; and sister, Willie M. Carpenter.
Left to cherish the memories of his life is his devoted wife, Cynthia Burton of Silas; his devoted mother, Lillie Mae Burton of Livingston; three sons, Germetrius Spence of Huntsville, Tyreek Causey of Montgomery and Calvin Nelson Burton Jr. of Silas; two daughters, LaShavia Burton of Livingston and Zakiyyah James of Butler; five grandchildren; five brothers, Robert (Johnnie) Burton, Alvin Burton and Bobby Burton, all of Livingston, William (Lela) Burton of Newton, Miss., and Eddie (Krissy) Burton of Quitman, Miss.; three sisters, Mary (Robert) Hopson of Porterville, Miss., Shirley (Charles) Carter and Lorene Burton, both of Livingston; two aunts, Mamie Jimerson of Tuscaloosa and Rosetta Coleman of Detroit, Mich.; 11 brothers-in-law, Lewis Bell (Faye) Causey Jr., Bryan (Kathy) Causey and Dennis Causey, all of Silas, Reggie (Denise) Causey and Dewayne (Chandra) Causey, both of Hattiesburg, Miss., Steven (Shanika) Causey of San Diego, Calif., Cornelius Causey of Columbus, Ga., Darryl Sumlin of Hampton, Va., Eric (Felicia) Sumlin of Waynesboro, Miss., Christopher Causey of Meridian, Miss., and Marcus (Felecia) Causey of Montgomery; nine sisters-in-law, Dorothy Burton of Livingston, Amelia Causey, Jackie Fox, Geraldean Leverett, Gwendolyn (Wayne) Thomas and Kimeta (Douglas) McGee, all of Silas, Sophia (Raymond) Hunt of Jackson, Rhonda Wesson of Dothan and Gelinda (Sharmel) Pope of Orlando, Fla.; and two devoted friends, James Philon and Mr. Archie.
The funeral service will be Sunday, Nov. 21, 11 a.m., at Shady Grove Park Pavilion, 1760 Shady Grove Road, Silas, AL. Interment will follow in Danner Cemetery, Highway 17, Livingston, AL.
