Deacon Carlton James Pugh, Sr.

DEACON CARLTON JAMES PUGH, JR.  NOVEMBER 3, 1949 – JULY 19, 2025

Deacon Carlton “James” Pugh was born the eldest of nine children, to Carlton and Daisy Pugh, Carlton James Pugh Jr.’s life began November 3, 1949 in Clarke County, Toddtown
AL. As a child, he gave his life to Christ at Pine Chapel Baptist Church #2. During this time, Carlton was a Senior Choir member, a member of Deacon’s Ministry, Head of Finance,
Young Adult Sunday School teacher, and Scout Master for the award-winning Boy Scout Troop 56.
 
Deacon Pugh’s career as an outstanding accountant began at Allied Paper Company, which was later named Boise Cascade, in Jackson, AL. These exceptional skills took him to the
states of Washington and Alaska. In both places, he continued to allow God to use him to be faithful in his service to the churches in which he held membership. As a member of
Bethlehem Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington, Deacon Pugh served as Chairman of the Deacon’s Ministry and sang in the Gospel Chorus. As a member of Shiloh Missionary
Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska, Deacon Pugh served as the Chairman of the Diaconate Ministry and was a member of the Voices of Shiloh Choir.
 
Deacon Pugh’s educational journey included graduation from Wilson Hall High School, Selma University, Alabama State University, and University of Phoenix.
Deacon Pugh’s affiliations included Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Clarke County Chapter of Alabama State University Alumni, and Wilson Hall High School Alumni Treasurer.
 
Forever in Our Hearts . . .
Deacon Pugh was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Carlton and Daisy Pugh; his brother, Lawrence Pugh; and one son, Kevin Lamont Pugh.
 
Deacon Carlton “James” Pugh Jr. will be forever cherished by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Patricia Flowers Pugh; two sons: Christopher (Danette) Pugh of Lawrenceville, GA,
and Dante Pugh of Tacoma, WA; four grandchildren: Christopher Pugh, Jr., Alexander Pugh, Ryan Pugh all of Rochester, NY and Karrington Pugh of Houston, TX; seven siblings: Jessie
(LouDella) Pugh of Toddtown, AL, Glenda (James) Butler of Atlanta, GA, Eunice “Dell” Taylor of Jamaica, NY, Marshall (Joanne) Pugh of Plano, TX, Bernard (Tammy) Pugh of
Orlando, FL, Darryl (Anjernett) Pugh of Mesa, AZ and Donald Pugh of Shadydale, GA; one brother-in-law, Jeremiah Ardis of McDonough, GA; sisters-in-law: Leila Pugh of Toddtown,
AL, Shela and Angel Beaty both of Huntsville, AL, Deanna Ardis of Meridianville, AL, and Gladys Copeland of Montgomery, AL; goddaughters: Oliva Johnson of Clarkston, GA and
Livia Coleman of Auburn, AL; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and so many friends.
