Deacon Woodrow Wilson Obituary

Deacon Woodrow Wilson was born on June 12, 1938, to the late Lenora Wilson Denton (Darvee). He was raised by his grandfather Dave Wilson in the Morning Star Community of Clarke County, Alabama. Woodrow was called home on Sunday, April 19,2026 surrounded by family after battling several illnesses for years.

 

Woodrow, at an early age, united with Morning Star Baptist Church. Woodrow attended church faithfully, and served as a Deacon until his health began to fail.

 

Woodrow met the love of his life and married the late Willie Bernice Foreman on May 24, 1960. Their love thrived for almost 45 years until her passing on May 14, 2005. To their union, they were blessed with five children.

 

Woodrow provided for his family as a devoted husband and father. He always held numerous jobs from working with Smith Lumber Company and other various jobs until he retired from Boise Cascade as a skilled forklift operator for over 40 years, until he retired in 2000.

 

Woodrow leaves to cherish his legacy and precious memories to, five devoted children: Mary (Robert) Davis of Whatley, AL, Mona (James) Brandyburg of Mobile, AL, Larry (Veronica) Wilson of Camden, AL, Barry (Barbara) Wilson and Tammy Wilson both of Whatley, AL; eight devoted grandkids: Tawona (Charley)Marshall, Santa Clarita, California; Misty Hodge of Hockley, TX, Roderick (Carloyn) Davis of Mobile, AL, Celeste Snell of Grove Hill, AL, Byron (Brittany) Davis of Birmingham, AL, Christina Jackson of Jackson, AL, William Brandyburg of Miami, FL and Tyler Champion of Whatley, AL whom he raised as his own; extended grandchildren: Raymond Blanks, Kelcy Moton, Marvin Ramsey, Sheldon Moton, and Terrence Moton; numerous great-grands that he adored; one devoted aunt, Minnie Clyde Simpson; one loving sister-in-law, Rosetta Henderson; one stepbrother, Eslie Jackson; two stepsisters: Ella Smith and Vanessa Jackson all of Mobile, AL; one devoted friend, Deacon Lorenzo King; his special and devoted friend, Ms. Willo Jean Coates; two devoted nieces: Genesis (Charlie) Pate and Glendora (Donnie) Coleman; two devoted nephews: Melvin C. Evans, and Leon Derrick (Linda) Autry; A host of great-nieces, great-nephews, devoted cousins, too numerous to name, and other relatives and friends.
