Debra Ann Perine, a native of Detroit, Mich. and resident of Jackson, made her earthly transition on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. Debra was born Aug. 15,1957 in Detroit, Mich. to Jerry D. Griffith and Shirley T. Cook. She accepted Christ at an early age. During her time in Detroit, she was an active member of Greater Community Missionary Baptist Church where she sewed clothes for the youth department. She attended Wayne State Community College, earning her cosmetology license as a young adult.
Following moving to Alabama, Debra began working as an usher at Jackson Street Baptist Church before becoming a deaconess and trustee.
During her free time, she enjoyed taking care of her flower garden and growing vegetables like tomatoes and greens. Her other hobbies included traveling, fishing and hunting with her husband, crafts and reading books.
Preceding her in transition were her parents and her first born, Roderick Lee Perine and stepdaughter, Jennifer Dunn.
Left to cherish her loving memories is her husband of 37 years, Deacon Henry Perine Jr.; her three sons, Rick (Shone) Perine of Jackson, Mark Perine of Charlotte, N.C., and Alex (Keva) Perine; one daughter, Alexis Perine of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Patricia Jackson and one aunt, Thelma Perkins, both of Detroit, Mich.; two godchildren, Javion and Whitney Chaney of Jackson; and a host of grandchildren.
Homegoing services will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, 3 p.m., at Jackson Street Baptist Church, 516 Jackson Street, Jackson, AL 36545. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 1076 Center St., Jackson.
Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson, AL 36545.
