Debra (Moss) Smith

Debra Moss Smith was born July 5, 1955 to the parentage of the late Ernest  "Son" Moss and Minnie Howze Moss.  She departed this life on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Infirmary Health Emergency Room in Saraland, AL.

Debra attended Jackson High School Class and was a member of the graduating Class of 1973.  She was employed as a Teacher Aide at Gillmore Elementary.  She was also employed with Moore's, Goody's and Walmart.

Debra was united in marriage and married the "Love of Her Life" John L. Smith on February 2, 1984.  "Ann" as she was lovingly called... united with Good Hope Baptist Church at an early age.  There she proudly enjoyed serving on the Usher Board.

Ann enjoyed talking to people.  She was a people person.  She was very friendly and outgoing.  She always greeted you with a smile.  Debra enjoyed family gatherings, listening to music, taking care of her flowers and interacting with family and friends.

Ann leaves to cherish her legacy and her precious memories, her loving and devoted husband, John L. Smith of Grove Hill, AL; her son, Jamael Smith of Grove Hill, AL; two grandchildren: Jamya Smith and Jamael Smith, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Tamara Smith all of Muscle Shoals, AL; one brother, Ernest C. Moss of Grove Hill, AL; a devoted niece, Latisha (Clifford) Williams of Jackson, AL; a devoted nephew, Miguel Smith; great-nephew, Clifford Williams, Jr.; and a great-niece, Genesis William; devoted cousins: Bunny, Bobby and Michelle Moss, Kim Lee, Milton Shuford, Que and Neecie; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends; and devoted  friends: Cathie Jackson, Shelia Stewart, Bessie Dickinson.
