Doris Wilson Obituary

Doris Franklin Wilson was born in Whatley to the late Bessie and Odies Franklin. On Sept. 25, 2021, Doris was called home by her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family. 

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the Indian Ridge Baptist Church. She was a faithful member and served as the financial secretary for more than 40 years.

A 1966 graduate of Wilson Hall High School; on Oct. 1, 1966, Doris married the love of her life and today they have celebrated 55 years of love and marriage.

Doris was the administrative assistant for the Wilson Hall Middle School, retiring following 30 years of service. She loved working at the middle school and greeted all of her students and visitors with a warm welcome, glad to be of service in whatever manner needed.

Doris faithfully served as the treasurer/financial secretary of several organizations including the Clarke Community Federal Credit Union in Grove Hill, the AJ Pritchett Scholarship, the Wilson Hall High School Class Reunion, and the Rosetta Wilson Harris Scholarship. She also served as the Associate Matron of Eastern Star Russell Success Chapter No. 674.

She loved spending time with her family, planning family holidays, planning class reunions, serving in the church, creating church programs, shopping with her sister, and watching TV.

Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, Otis Franklin Jr. and Elijah Franklin.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted family, including her devoted husband, Earl Lee Wilson; daughter, Twan (Patrick) Leonard of Stone Mountain, Ga.; sons, Tyrone (Katrina) Wilson of Jonesboro, Ga., and Tremaine (Leah) Wilson of Calera; sister, Naomi Taite of Whatley; brothers, Melvin (Ingrid) Franklin of Mobile and Edmund Franklin of Whatley; grandsons, Kaleb Wilson, Kaden Wilson, Lleyton Leonard and Brandon Leonard; granddaughters, Taylor Wilson and Skylar Wilson; sisters-in-law, Doris Franklin, Shirley Johnson, Ethel Wilson, Ruth Wilson, Wilola (Jeff) Klein and Carrie (Bruce) Washington; two special nieces, Tisha Lewis and Traci Hosea; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
