Edith Reed Waters, better known to family and friends as “Penny” was born on November 27, 1955 to Marzine Burks and Henry Timmons. Penny’s earthly life came to an end on
Sunday, June 15, 2025. Penny accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church, where she served in the Culinary Department. Penny was known throughout the community as a quiet but straight to the point person and was loved by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marzine Burks and Henry Timmons; husband, Watson Waters, Sr.; son, Jerome Reed; brother, Wayne Reed; and a loving aunt, Mary Louise King, whom she was raised by.
Penny leaves to cherish her precious memories, her three devoted children: Watson (Tasha) Waters Jr., Elaine Waters and Michael (Sherri) Waters all of Jackson, AL; seven
grandchildren: JonTyler Waters, Caderrius Parker, Jerome Reed, Jr., Tiauna Waters, Jaden Bragg, Michael Waters, Jr. and Kenya Waters; two great-grandchildren: Tylon Warrington and
Ny'ellie Waters; her siblings, Bertha Reid of Taylor, Mich., Mary Ann (Asberry III) Daffin, Shirley (Dann) Rodgers and the Rev. Ted Watkins, all of Jackson, Henry (Angeliner)
Timmons and Cynthia (Dave) Gordon; also raised together as siblings, Sarah (Emmitt) James of Cleveland, Ohio, Frank King, Joann Mitchell, Donnie (Ganita) King and Linda King,
all of Jackson, AL; one aunt, Bessie Timmons Dixon of Montgomery; two devoted uncles, Tommie Timmons and Ray Timmons, both of Mobile; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Robert
(Muriel) Waters, Marvin White, Lula Jackson, Leon (Shannon) Waters, Brenda Robinson and Deleatha Waters; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
