Elizabeth Pearson Jackson traded time for eternity on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 from her earthly residence in Jackson. She was born Sept. 4, 1936 to parents Jerry Pearson and Hattie B. Graham Pearson in Halsel and raised in Mobile. She attended school in Mobile County.
Elizabeth found Christ at an early age and attended Antioch Baptist Church in Mobile. After moving to Jackson, she became a member of Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She later joined her husband as a member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where she again taught Sunday School, served on Missionary and Stewardess Board, and served with fellow first ladies with the C.M.E. Church (South East District).
Preceding her in death was her husband, the Rev. Tommie Lee Jackson Sr.; sons, Timmie Lee Jackson and Tommie L. Jackson Jr.; daughter, Gretchen Jackson-Graham; and grandchildren, Tommie D. Jackson and Tomeka E. Lucyies.
She leaves to cherish her memories daughters, Delia Ann (William) Hunter of Montgomery, Mary Louise (Michael) Gulley of Leroy and Kenetha Vontreal (Anthony Pugh) Jackson of Jackson; raised as a son, Anthony (Vera) Camel of Monroeville; devoted grandson, Charles L. Patterson Jr of Jackson; brothers, Woodrow Pearson of Butler, AL, Rev. Claud Ray Pearson Sr. of Toxey, AL; sisters, Elmira Bonner of Toxey, AL, Geraldine ( Theodore ) Henderson of Gilbertown, AL, and Barbara Pearson of Toxey, AL; sister in law, Rosie Shepard of Grayson, GA; with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
