Elma Young Westbrook, affectionately known as “Elle” to those who knew and loved her most, exchanged this earthly life for her heavenly home on August 1, 2021. She was born November 14, 1937 to Maggie Hudson Young Williams and Willie Young, Sr.. Elma “Elle” was a native of Sweet Water, Alabama and resided in Mobile, Alabama for a number of years. She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served until her health no longer permitted.
Preceding her in death were the love of her life, Lewis W. Westbrook; her parents; and siblings: Marie Young McDaniel, William C. Young, Bennon Young, Thelma Young Jowers (her identical twin), Essie G. Young, Dorothy Williams Cowan, and Enoch Williams, Jr.
Elma leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter, Tina (Gabriel) Peck; Derrok Young and David Centrell (Cheryl) Dixon to whom she was a mother; grandchildren: Stacey Pugh and Kimberly (John) McCalpine; great-grandchildren: Jaison McKeithan, Jordan McCalpine, and Jayden McCalpine; siblings: Willie (Selena) Young, Jr. and Earnest (Peggy) Williams; sisters-in-law: Rebecca Young, Katherine Wiley, Christine Hives, Connie Westbrook, Gloria Westbrook; God-daughters: Mikki Haynes and Cassandra Washington; nieces and nephews: Lee, Nell, Joyce, Arthur, Pat, Debra, Michelle, Don, Crissy, Ray, Betty, Vernon, Steven, Kenneth, Darryl, Taiesha, Ren, Angela, Shirley, Wanda, Phillip, Glenda Willie, Jacqueline, Sonya, Steve, Carla, Randy, John, Eleda, Shawn, and Rick; special friends: Brenda Pendleton and Myra Pendleton; a host of Preschoolers Unlimited babies and families who along with her grandchildren knew her as “Granny!”
