Florence Barnett Robinson, a native of the Grove Hill and resident of Foley, made her earthly transition January 30, 2024. Florence was born on May 12, 1941 in Whatley, to Georgia and John Dell Barnett. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Whatley under the leadership Pastor Fernell Pendleton and First Lady Brenda Pendleton formerly, years before moving to Foley. She later united with First Baptist Church of Warrington, where she remained a faithful member under the leadership of Dr. James H. Miller and First Lady Mary Jane Miller until her health failed.
Florence did volunteer work as a substitute teacher at Wilson Hall Middle School in Grove Hill before moving. She also enjoyed baby sitting and visiting the sick and elderly in their homes, hospital, and nursing homes. She was a faithful servant for Christ and wanted everyone to know Christ and be saved. She read her Bible through and through many times and faithfully read chapters every morning.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Billy Robinson; her loving parents, John Dell Barnett and Georgia Barnett; brothers, John, Joseph, Raymond and Cecil Barnett.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three devoted daughters, Joyce (Kenny) Williams, Twanda (James) Miller and Billie Miller, all of Baldwin County; stepdaughter, Debbie Ann Purifoy of Birmingham; loved like a son, Michael (Carolyn) Taite of Grove Hill; six sisters, Geraldine Smith, Millerdean Tarvin, Ella McCrain, Cara Lee Robinson, Irene (Robert ) Hill and Laura Mae (Willie) Young; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one god-daughter, Amanda Hill; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Devoted friends like sisters, Liza Jane Williams and Bennie Pearl Hicks.
Service will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 268020 US-84, Whatley, AL 36482. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.
