Freddie James Davis, a native of Jackson and a resident of Mobile, transitioned peacefully Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile. He was born to the parentage of Willie Jane Richardson and Benjamin Davis, Sr..
Freddie confessed to Christ at an early age at the Little Burrah Baptist Church in Manila, where he served as an usher. He worked as a roofer for many years until his health failed. He retired in 2000. He was known for his famous white potatoe pies and barbecue.
Left to cherish his memories are five daughters, Charmin Blake of Mobile, Johngelyn (Horace) Alleyne of Boston, Mass., Coletta (Eric) Hollinger, Tameka Davis and Frederick Davis Barker, all of Mobile; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one devoted brother, Benjamin Davis Jr. of Jackson; three devoted sisters, Carrie Mc Alpine of Mobile, Gladys Brown of Jackson and Sarah Lynaum of Mobile; one sister-in-law, Elnora Davis of Mobile; two special cousins, Pastor Leroy Davis of Mobile and Ozzie Robinson of Jackson; a devoted friend, David Clarke of Jackson; with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Deaconess Willie Jane Davis and Deacon Benjamin Davis Sr.; sister, Ethel (Ned) Brown; brothers, Tom Davis, Rev. Willie C. Davis and Richard Davis
