Gadia Scott Washington, a resident of the Jackson, answered the Master's call Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 18, 1933 to Addie Scott and Willie Manning.
Gadia was a faithful, loyal and dedicated member of the Free Will Family Pentecostal Church in Grove Hill, where she loved praising the Lord. A sweet, loving, caring and compassionate soul, she was employed for a number of years at Health Actions as a physical therapist assistant. She cared for her patients with love and care; if you were feeling down, you were uplifted by her comforting words from Scripture or hearing her humming a song while she worked.
Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, James Phillips and her later husband, Rufus Scott; sons, Jewel, James and Jimmy Phillips; and daughter, Barbara Huggins.
Remaining to cherish her memories are her children, four sons, Curtis, Roosevelt, John Glen and Rickey Phillips; three daughters, Peggy (O'neil) McKenzie, Katherine (Patricia) Washington and Denise Phillips; four sisters, Linda Nere of New York, Charliestine Miller and Odessa Martin, both of Chicago, Ill., and Eula Mae Ezell of Jackson; one brother, Cleophus (Marilyn) Funche of Huxford; a host grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, Elder Robert Boykins and family of Thomasville, Jackie (Brother Tom) and family and Connie, both of Thomasville; special family and friends, Beth Whitehead, Debbie Powell and Tammy Bolen, along with many others too numerous to name.
