Jacqueline Horn - Jackson Obituary

Jacqueline Benita Horn Jackson was welcomed into the world to the union of the late Auty G. (Deloris Eldora Roberts) Horn on Sept. 12, 1975 in Mobile.

Death visited Jacqueline’s hospital room on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

At a young age, Jacqueline was baptized by Pastor Napoleon Leverette and she united with the St. Union Baptist Church in McIntosh, where she was active in the Junior Choir, Junior Usher Board, and the Sunday School. As an adult, Jacqueline spent time as a member of the Senior Mission, the Mass Choir, and the Vacation Bible School programs at St. Union.

Jacqueline’s love for learning, which began at Reed’s Chapel Elementary School and McIntosh High School, was like charity, for it began at home and spread abroad. Leaving behind her pompons and her track shoes, Jacqueline graduated from McIntosh with the Class of 1993 and studied at Bishop State Community College, Alabama State University, and the University of Mobile, before securing an Associate Degree, a Bachelor Degree, and a Master Degree, as well as a certification to teach. This love for teaching and learning led her back home to her alma mater, where she rendered a total of 16 years and served as a classroom teacher, senior sponsor, Beta Club sponsor, National Honor Society sponsor, and event planner for most of the honor roll assemblies during her time as a faculty member of McIntosh High School.

She is preceded in death by her mother and her father; her grandparents, Napoleon (Retha Bell) Roberts Sr. of McIntosh, and Kelly (Affie) Horn of Whatley; and her sister, Pamela Robinson of Mobile.

She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Epiphany Delaney Jackson and Elijah Robert Jackson; a devoted brother, Dr. Auty G Horn of Florence; a devoted sister-in-law, Sandra Kelsaw Horn of Florence; two sisters, Brenda Campbell and Eunice Mayfield, both Los Angeles, Calif.; two devoted nephews, Auty G Horn III and Alexander G. Horn; one brother-in-law, Edward Robinson; a devoted first cousin, Zanetta “Big Sister” Andrea Simmons Ervin, Ph.D. of Annemanie; a devoted second cousin, Cassandra Martin of Birmingham; four uncles and six aunts, Freddie (Irma) Bettis, Pearlie Mae May and Otis Augusta (Barbara) Roberts, all of Malcolm, Rubye R. Nelson, Ed.D., Daisy R. (Henry L.) Simmons and Warren Eugene (Dorothy) Roberts, all of McIntosh; one great-aunt, Audrey Nelson of Jackson, Miss.; three devoted friends, Joyce Ann Thomas Hisay, Jassa Hisay Onu and Terry Spencer Ledford; a caring health care provider, Sister Vanessa Faye Toole; and a host of cousins, relatives, colleagues and friends.
