James Robinson Obituary

James Wesley Robinson of Jackson, Alabama departed this earthly life of 86 years on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born on October 31, 1932 to his loving parents, Barney and Mattie F. Robinson.

James attended the Old Harper High School, with vivid lasting memories. After high school, James enlisted in the US Army and served in the Korean War. Upon completion of his military duties, he received an honorable discharge and retired as a Disabled Veteran.

James gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a faithful and long-time loyal tithing member of St. Union Baptist Church in Jackson, Alabama. The church will miss him deeply.

James married the love of his life, Geraldine Chapman Robinson after meeting her in Grove Hill, Alabama. They were devoted to each other for 34 years until Geraldine earned her wings.

James was also a Professional Carpenter for over fifty years, and he was well known throughout Clarke County. After many years of owning Midway Grocery Store with his brother Jessie, he went on to complete another career at Teledyne-Brown Eng. until his full retirement in 1996. He was the Robinson family honorary recipient of the “Family Spirit and Service Award”. He enjoyed his regular mornings by sharing breakfast with close friends, chatting at the Barber Shop, hunting, building things, a good home-cooked meal and he loved his wife and kids unconditionally.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine; parents, Mattie F. and Barney Robinson; brothers, Bobby L. Robinson and George Robinson and sisters, Voncile James and Janie Williams.
