James Edward Wright Sr.

James Edward Wright Sr., a native and resident of the Manila community, was better known to family and friends as “Midnight Boy.” Born August 1, 1942 to Erwin and Inez Wright in the Manila community, he departed this life Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Montgomery.  

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, James Edward Wright Jr.; three brothers, Tommie, Evwin Jr. and Adolph Wright; and his sister, Love Joyce York. 

Left to cherish his memories are three children, Pam Wright of Moss Point, Evwin Wright of Manila and Eric Wright Sr. of Jackson; seven grandchildren, three devoted, Jakayla (Cohen) Miles of Moss Point, Eric Wright Jr. and Edyn Wright, both of Jackson; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hattie Mcgee of Winn and Julia Rivers of McIntosh; three brothers, Carlos (Carolyn) Wright of Daphne, McArthur (Cynthia) of Suggsville, and one devoted, Amos Wright of Manilla; wife and devoted friend, Mazie Wright of Jackson; devoted friend, Willie James Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Friday, Aug. 27, from 5 until 7 p.m., Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson. Service will be Saturday, Aug. 28, 3 p.m., at the Jackson High School Auditorium, 145 Stanley Drive, Jackson, AL 36545. Bishop Jim Perine will be the eulogist. Interment will follow in the Cedar Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Suggsville.
