Janie B. Pugh , passed away in the early morning hours of Holy Friday, April 15, 2022, at USA Health University Hospital at the age of 85.
She was born March 18, 1937, in Grove Hill , Alabama to Sidney and Arilla Coates - Pugh. Janie attended school in Ebenezer, Alabama in 1947. Her family later moved to Jackson, Alabama. She worked at Vogue Stylon as a hairstylist , Wayside Inn as a cook, Jackson Church of Christ , and McCanns Chapel in the nursery.
Janie was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and she later joined St Union Baptist Church where she was a devoted member. She belonged to the Nascar Members Fan Club, ( SCA ) Scanners Association of North America, and a contributor to the St Jude Foundation.
In her spare time , she took interest in flowers , cooking, learning about good wines, sewing , and reading. She enjoyed a variety of music , sketching, and staying in touch with friends on social media. She was a fan of the Jackson Aggies , an avid Alabama fan , and NFL teams that had former Alabama players . Her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. and active driver Kevin Harvick who succeeded Earnhardt. She followed the Mobile Baybears and New York Yankees. Although she did not drink coffee, she always kept fresh good coffee for people that stopped by.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sidnay and Arilla Coates- Pugh; son, Nimoy Pugh; niece , Toni; and her love, Carlos Blackwell.
Janie is survived by her loving son, Glenn Blackwell of Lumberton, NC; sister, Grace Jackson of Birmingham, AL; brother, Clauzell Pugh of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Ariel, Tianna, and Delroy of Decatur, AL ; nieces, Bernadette, and Jane Caroline; dearest friend of many years, Mrs. Annie Parker of Jackson, AL; and host of family and friends.
