Obituary

Jerome “Droop” Reed was a native of Jackson and a resident of Columbus, Miss., he was born on Dec. 28,1971 to Edith “Penny” Waters and Bobby King Jr. Jerome transitioned Friday April 21, 2023 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.

Jerome spent some of his younger years living in California with his Aunt Gloria King. A member of the Jackson High School Class of 1990, he went on to join the United States Army. After serving in the military, Jerome worked in the construction field.

A very laid back person, Jerome enjoyed hanging around with family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his father, Bobby King Jr.; stepfather, Watson Waters Sr.; and sister, Erica Brewer.

Left to cherish his memories is his son, Jerome Reed Jr. of Arizona; brothers, Watson Waters Jr. and Michael (Sherri) Waters, both of Jackson; sisters, Elaine Waters and Tara Felecia Dixon Fox, both of Jackson, Marlena Johnson of Thomasville, Krystal Johnson of Birmingham and Tracey Wright; special friends, Terrance “Cheese” Thames and Marcus Brewer; with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,  other relatives and friends.
