Jocelyn Lucille Barnes Powell, a native of McIntosh, AL, was born July 4, 1950 to Every and Edna Adams Barnes. She made her transition from this life to her eternal home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2020.
Jocelyn was united in Holy Matrimony to the James Houston Powell. Preceding her in death were her husband, James H. Powell; son, Nick Barnes; parents, Reverend Every and Edna Barnes Sr.; two sisters, Lela Barnes and Elsie Westry; five brothers, Allen Barnes, Namon Barnes, Every Barnes Jr., Jerry Barnes, and Roy Lee Barnes.
Left to cherish her memory are five daughters, Vanessa (Elmore) Kemp, Angel Powell, Cara (Chester) Reed Sr., Jasmine Powell, all of McIntosh, AL, Natasha Powell, College Park GA; three sons, Maurice (Dana) Barnes, Atlanta, GA, Joshua Powell, Jarvis Powell of McIntosh, AL; four sisters, Cynthia (Byran) Holt, Montgomery, AL, Anna (Walter) Barnes, Annie (llewellyn) Adams of McIntosh, AL, and Delvin (Rogest) Carstarphen Sr. of Mobile, AL; six brothers, Winston (Mary) Barnes, Marvin Barnes and Jerome Barnes of McIntosh, AL, Mervin (Deloris) Barnes, Elvin Barnes and Rodney (Cyndi) Barnes of Atlanta, GA; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Barnes of McIntosh, AL, Sarah Barnes of Calvert, AL, and Wanda Barnes, Citronelle, AL; twenty-one grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a devoted friend, Aldena James.
