Julia Ann Pogue, a native of Cortelyou, was called home to the Lord, Dec. 26, 2024. Julia was born Dec. 1, 1934, to the late Mose Edward Pogue Jr. and Savannah Georgia Arrington Pogue.
Julia began her education at Cortelyou Grade School, which was held in the Lewis Grove Baptist Church. She later graduated from Prestwick High School, where she excelled in mathematics and home economics. Blessed with a natural gift for design, Julia’s passion for creating unique clothing blossomed during her school years.
She later moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she became a renowned seamstress, designing stunning custom pieces and hosting fashion shows that showcased her extraordinary talent. Julia’s legacy of beauty and craftsmanship continue to inspire those who knew her work. She left a profound and lasting imprint on the lives she touched.
Preceding her in death was her daughter, Patricia Ann; parents, Savannah and Mose Pogue; sisters, Betty Davis and Doris Robinson; and brother, Mose “Snap” Pogue.
She leaves to cherish her memory sisters, Mary “Mootie” Powell, Thelma Lue Donald and Henrietta “Ret” Howell; brothers, Richard “Tee” Pogue, “Birdie” and Frankie Pogue; special cousin, Ramona P. Greene; good friend, Rosetta Hayes Powell; with a host of nieces and nephews, two especially dedicated caregivers, niece Elizabeth Brown and nephew, Raymond Bowling, who provided her with unwavering love and support during her time of need, even at the end of her life.
