Julius Theodore Young, beloved husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully on Aug. 13, 2024 surrounded
by his loving family. He was born on Feb. 7, 1942 in Selma. Julius was the son of Mary Wilson and Zack Young Jr.
He grew up in a tight-knit community where he quickly gained a reputation for his kindness, integrity and
unwavering determination. Julius loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid
music fan.
Julius was employed at Olin Chemical in McIntosh for many years, retiring in 2004. He was a skilled carpenter,
making his grandchildren and great-grandchildren school desks and more. He especially loved his wife, his heart
and first love. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-
grandchildren will carry on his legacy with pride and honor.
Julius was preceded in death by his parents; bonus, Matilda Westry; sisters, Elvira Thomas, Carrie Westry and
Stephanie Young; brothers, Calvin Westry, Sam Westry and Wilmer Young.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Maxine Young; his children, Eric (Treba) Young, Cindy (Ben)
Cushion, Ray (Felecia) Young Sr. and Christopher (Reschandra) Young; seven grandchildren, India Found, Iris
Young, Dylan Young, Ray (Breanna) Young Jr., Courtney Malcom) Sirmons, Daniel Cushion and Erin Young; 11
great-grandchildren and one godchild, Minister Al Flott; sisters, Mary Young, Syvallerie (John) Finklea and Carolyn
(Thomas) Champion; brothers, Jack Young, Willie Young, Earnest (Shirley) Westry and Eddie Mack Westry;
devoted friends, Sharon Dennis and Donell Witherspoon; with cherished family members and friends.
