Kenton Lamar Johnson
Kenton Lamar Johnson was born in Meridian, Miss., July 7, 2001, to Tonde’la and Kenneth Johnson. The Lord called him home Sunday, March 28, 2021.
Kenton was fun, loving and always brought joy and laughter to everyone. Kenton attended Poplar Springs Elementary School and Northwest Middle School in Meridian. He was a member of Freedom Rock Christian Fellowship. After relocating to Tuscaloosa, Kenton united with the Daystar Family Church and attended Eastwood Middle School and Paul W. Bryant in Cottondale. He was a member of Marine Corps JROTC, played football, and ran track and field during his junior and senior years. He graduated from Paul W. Bryant in 2019. Following graduation, Kenton was employed with Cummings Logistics with BF Goodrich. He also played on the Alabama Steel Semi-Pro Football team.
Kenton was preceded in death by grandparents, Cynthia Dunham, Oscar J. Johnson Sr., Mother Christina H. Yow, and Ann Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his loving and devoted memories his parents, Tonde’la and Kenneth Johnson; siblings, Kentoria, Karissa, Krischan, Kenneth “Gabe” and Krystal Johnson, all of Northport; grandparents, Charlie J. Dunham Sr., of St. Stephens, Willie Mae Johnson of Keonton, Ethel Alberta Anderson of Mobile and Barbara Taylor of Cleveland, Ohio;
a host of aunts and uncles, two devoted, Kristen Dunham and Charlie J. “CJ” Dunham; with a host of friends, some devoted, Dailyn Rainey, Danorris Ellis, Douglass Belcher, Mokondie “Moki” Hales, Josh Killings, Kenn Mink and Davon Brown.
Public viewing will be Tuesday, April 6, from 3 until 6 p.m., at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson. Service will be held Wednesday, April 7, 11 a.m., at Church of God Deliverance in Cullomburg. Interment will follow in the James Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Stephens.
Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.
