Obituary

Lee Harris Franklin

Mr. Lee Harris Franklin was born Jan. 31, 1948 to J.B. Franklin and Mary Aquilla Creighton Franklin in Whatley. God whispered to His child, “come home.” He left everything behind and followed Him, Tuesday, May 5, 2020 from his home. His transition from labor to reward was swift and peaceful.

Lee and his siblings were nurtured in a loving Christian home. He was one of eight children, four preceding him in death, as well as his parents.

Lee was a member of Indian Ridge Baptist Church in Whatley. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mattie Davis Franklin. Educated in the public schools of the Indian Ridge community, he attended high school at Wilson Hall in Clarke County. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army.

He leaves to cherish his memories two loving children, Lenora (Eric) Moore of Gosport and Kelly Franklin of Los Angeles, Calif.; stepchildren, Juanita (Greg) Clark of Monroeville, Sandra (Milton) Avery of Maryland, Wilhelmina (Sheldon) Washington of Toddtown, George Davis Jr. of Gosport, Antonio (Tyronda) Davis of Virginia, Courtney (Chamelya) Davis of Virginia and Andre Davis of Washington, D.C.; beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; loving siblings, Essie Thompson, Chrissie Franklin, Joyce Franklin and Rosetta Darlene Franklin, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; with a host of nieces, nephews, many other loved relatives and friends.

Mr. Franklin’s memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
