Leroy Coates Obituary

Leroy Coates was born Oct. 18, 1963 to the late Paul Coates Sr. and Minnie Mae Coates of Clarke County. Leroy made a peaceful transition on Sept. 18, 2022 at his home.

He joined the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age, where he remained until his death. He was a graduate of Coffeeville High School in the Class of 1981. He was also a dedicated employee at the PCA Converter Plant in Jackson until his health failed. Leroy was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Jackson Aggies. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Vonnie V. and Woodie Earl Coates.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 21years, Patricia Burden Coates of Jackson; one daughter, Nakeshia Coates and one granddaughter, Sahniya Martin, both of Grove Hill; one god-daughter, Elise Morgan Adams of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Ezell Coates of Coffeeville, Paul (Lillie) Coates of Toddtown and Richard (Tommie) Coates of St. Stephens; three sisters, Luciel Coates and Dorothy (Amos) Wright, both of Coffeeville, and Bobbie Howze of Detroit, Mich.; five sisters-in-law, Vivian Regina Thomas Coates of Whatley, Stacie (Oliver) Stahnke of London England, Shelia Burden of Pearlman, Texas, Tracie Graham of Lithonia, Ga., and Betty Coates of Detroit, Mich.; three brothers-in-law, Michael (Sabrina) Jones of Houston, Texas, Gerald (Michele) Graham of Jacksonville, N.C., and Anthony Burden Graham of Jackson; with a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends, three devoted, Eddie Adams, Bob Foreman and Fredrick Taite.
