Lula Jean Packer Johns was born on July 24, 1952 to the late Earnest Packer and Lenora Wilson Packer in
Whatley. The Master called her home Dec. 3, 2024; she was surrounded by her family.
Lula Jean was a graduate of Wilson Hall in Grove Hill, in the Class of 1970. She was employed with a variety of
different restaurants through the years in Grove Hill, doing what she loved to do, cooking delicious food for the
community. Lula also enjoyed watching Alabama football and game shows. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening
to gospel music and spending time with her nieces, Nykiah and Zoe.
A faithful member of Indian Ridge Baptist Church, she loved to hear her pastor preach the Word and hear the
choir singing beautiful songs. Her favorite song was, “Oh I Want to See Him.” Lula really enjoyed going to church
on Sundays to see her church family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Mabel Wright, Corvetta Packeer and Chynetta Fluker; and
brothers, Earnest, Willis and Calvin Packer.
Remaining to cherish her memories are her four loving and devoted brothers, Jeffery Packer and Leonard (Rosie)
Packer, both of Whatley, Dennis Packer of Hampton, Ga., and Zander (Yolanda) Packer of Grove Hill; devoted
sister, Martha Packer (Donald Hackworth) of Aurora, Colo.; two loving nephews, Larry (Christine) Fluker and
Kadeem Packer; great-nephew, Cameron Fluker; nieces, Tanesha, Taliyah, Tayren, Denine Octavia, Latonya and
Adrianne; great-nieces, Tamia, Nykiah, Leandria and Meghan; one great-great-niece, whom she loved as her own
daughter, Zoe Williams; devoted cousins, Willie Grant, Charlie Henry Robinson, Theresa Harris, Katrina Campbell,
Bertha Cox, Latrice Ward, Walter Wilson and Eddie Lambert; devoted friends, Jettie Cade, Beverly Jenkins, Rafael
Blackmon, Vivian Coates, Shedrick Hollins and the Indian Ridge Church family.
