Margaret J. Pernell

Margaret J. Pernell, traded time for eternity on Saturday, August 17, 2019 while at her Jackson, AL residence. Born July 26, 1930 to Ethel J. Jackson and Joel E. Martin in the Rockville Community, she was 89 years of age.
 

Confessing Christ at an early age, she united with the Mt. Olive #1 Baptist Church in the Rockville Community. After moving to Jackson, AL she united with the Mt. Olive #2 Baptist Church where she served faithfully as Usher President, Church Custodian for 22 years, and a member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee.
 

Word Search Puzzles, fishing, church, spending time with family and friends, Jackson Nutrition Center, Blue Light Savings Club for many years are several key things that brought her great joy throughout her lifetime.
 

She united in Holy Matrimony to Douglas E. Pernell, Sr. and this union was blessed with a beautiful family.
 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Douglas E. Pernell, Sr.; sons, Kenneth Pernell, Victor Watkins, and Larry Pernell; parents, Ethel Calvin and Joel Martin; brothers, Henry Jones, Leroy Martin, Willis Jackson, Woodrow Martin, and Lee Martin; sisters, Mattie Bell Scott, and Selener Martin.
Left to forever cherish her precious memories are her two loving daughters, Gloria Beck, and Shelia Pernell, both of Jackson, AL; three loving sons, Douglas Pernell, Jr., Windell Watkins, and Roderick Pernell, all of Jackson, AL; three daughters-in-law, Linda Pernell, and Gloria Pernell, both of Jackson, AL, and Angelika Watkins, Chattanooga, TN; twenty-five grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Sterling, New York, NY, and Elizabeth Class, Jackson, AL; three brothers-in-law, Tommie Pernell, and Mack (Eloise) Pernell, Jackson, AL, and Eugene (Yvonne) Pernell, Lansing, MI; a special friend, Martha Parker, Jackson, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
