Margie Grant Obituary

Mrs. Margie Odom Grant, a native of Whatley, Alabama, was born on January 11, 1936 to John Amos and Mattie Bass Odom. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Margie was a faithful member of the Indian Ridge Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and  President of the Usher Board. She was a member of the Russell Success Chapter #674 OES of Whatley; she served as treasurer for the 1st District and Women Department of The Bethel Baptist Association; and she was a member of the Grove Hill Hospital Auxiliary Board.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Mattie Odom; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Grant, her loving husband of 56 years Clifford I. Grant; beautiful and loving daughter, Janice Elaine Grant White; her loving brother, John Amos Odom; and her loving sisters, Jessie Lee Chapman and Lula Dell Miller.

Left to forever cherish her precious memories are her loving and devoted children; Linda and Herman Thomas, Mobile, AL, Bruce and Synetta Grant of Birmingham, AL, and Willie J. White, Jr. (the late Janice Elaine Grant White) Mexia, AL; Her devoted Grandchildren: Candace J. White, Birmingham, AL, Justin P. Grant, Raleigh, NC, Julian S. and Breah Grant, McCalla, AL, Brooke A. Thomas, New Brunswick, NJ, Andrea M. Thomas, Atlanta, GA, and Grant J. White, Phoenix, AZ; Two Great-Grandsons; Kaleb Cruz and Koby Jude White, Phoenix, AZ; Two loving and devoted Sisters, Mrs. Marie O. Dumas (caregiver), Mobile, AL and Mrs. Leona O. Black, Huntsville, AL; Her loving and kind nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
