Marvin Boykin Obituary

Marvin Lamar Rocker Boykin was born May 14, 1960 in Jackson, AL, to the parentage of the late Reverend Dr. Clausell Boykin, Jr. and the late Mrs. Nancy Rocker Boykin.  He departed this life on January 11, 2020 at home in Jackson, AL.

Marvin accepted Christ at an early age and united with St. James AME church, Choctaw Bluff, AL.

Marvin was united in marriage with Cathy Chaney Boykin for a period of twelve years.  This union was blessed with three daughters, two sons and one devoted son.

Later in life he joined in a loving relationship with Ms. Lee Brenda Chapman for a period of twenty-eight years.

Marvin had numerous employments, starting early working with his father doing many handyman crafts. Later he was employed at Boise Cascade and Jack Lee Mobile homes.

Marvin was a 1978 graduate of Jackson High School. He received an Associate Degree from Selma University, 1980. He matriculated further at Alabama State University in education.

Marvin Boykin leaves to forever cherish his memories,  his loving companion of twenty-eight years, Lee Brenda Chapman, Jackson, AL; three sons, Terrance ( Ebony) Dean, Copperas Cove, TX, Marvin Lamar Chaney, Jackson, AL,  and Christopher Rashaun Boykin, Birmingham, AL; three daughters, LaSherica (Carl) Chaney Sims, Kawana Boykin, and Sasha Boykin all of Jackson, AL; four devoted children, Zavier Chaney, Jackson, AL, Andreda Chapman, Rick(Bridgette) Chapman and Ashura Chapman all of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Nancy Sims, Takaylin Sims, Asia Rice, Carlik Sims, Armani Brown, Caidris Sims, Jayceon Sims, Amarion Brown,  All of Jackson, AL, Qinah Dean, Copperas Cove, TX, Khyliyah Boykin, Montgomery, AL; five devoted grandchildren, Quinton Chapman, Jackson, AL, Courtney Chapman, Opelika, AL, Ladrius (Haylie) Chapman, Ft Bragg, NC, Anton Mason, Spring, TX, Nickolas Chapman, Humble, TX and Danelle Chapman, Detroit, MI; his loving and devoted grandmother, Ms. Wilcy Mae Boykin, Choctaw, Bluff, AL; stepmother, Artherine Kidd Boykin, Gosport, AL; eight brothers, Dr. Michael Jerome (Sarah) Boykin, Mathews, AL, Burel (Linda Faye) Boykin, Choctaw Bluff, AL, Chester Ray ( LaQuinta) Boykin, Chatom, AL, Wille Lee (Elizabeth) Boykin, Grove Hill, AL,  Clausell (Alfreda) Boykin III and Terry Dewayne (Klashette) Boykin, Choctaw Bluff, AL, Samuel Lee ( Lucretia) Boykin, Jackson, AL, Reginald (Kimberly) McCants, Millbrook, AL; four sisters, Brenda Causey, Silas, AL, Cheryl Mavritte, Silver Springs, MD, Gabriel Michelle (Frederick) Johnson, Thomasville, AL, Arlinda Marie (Floyd) Sharp, Grove Hill, AL; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
