Mary Jane Hollins Duncan, a native and resident of Whatley, was born on Jan. 13, 1947 to the late Charlie, Sr. and Inell Hollins, She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mackey branch No. 2 Baptist Church of Whatley, where she sang in the choir for many years, was president of the usher board, and a faithful member until her death. Mary was employed with Harper Headstart for more than 20 years of service before retiring.
Mary, affectionately known to many as "Coot," was loved by many.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Minnie Hill, Clara Houston and Jessie Davis; and brothers, Ernest Hollins and Charlie Hollins Jr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two daughters, Felicia Hollins and Casandra (Rickey) Patrick, both of Whatley; two sons, Jerry (Charlotte) Hollins of Monroeville and Shedrick Hollins of Whatley: five sisters, Ethel Evans, Barbara Hollins, Evelyn Davis, Rose (Victor) Morrissette and Bernice (Jerry) Pugh, all of Whatley; two stepsisters, Arcola Williams of Thomasville and Creola Westry of Grove Hill; two brothers, Robert (Lynda) Hollins of Grove Hill and Edward E. Hollins of Whatley; one stepbrother, Arthur Patterson of Texas; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; and her devoted classmates of the Wilson Hall Class of 1965.
