Mary a Javier of Mount Vernon New York passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at Mobile Infirmary Hospital in Mobile, Al. She was fifth child of Herbert and Margaret Moore.
After graduating from Prestwick High School, Mary moved to New York to pursue ambitions. She attended business school and began a career as secretary with Sears and Roebuck at their home office in New York.
Mary shared a close bond with her sister Sallie, whom she shared a home. Mary also had a special bond with her brother Charles. She had a passion for gourmet cooking and sewing, excelling as a seamstress. Whether crafting clothing, drapery, slipcovers or bedding, Mary's meticulous attention detail ensured every stitch was perfect. Her love for creativity extended to her collection of antiques and her care for beautiful plants that adorned her home.
Mary cherished her family deeply and found joy in sharing laughter and wisdom with her loved ones. She delighted in teaching her nieces and nephews life skills-showing the girls how to walk in heels, apply makeup and polish their nails. Her warmth and vibrant personality left an incredible mark on those who knew her.
Mary is survived by seven sisters and four brothers. Janice (Frank) Mohamed of Old Greenwich, CT, Fleda Tiggs of Covington, GA, Sallie Moore of Mount Vernon, New York, Daisy Dukes of Leroy, AL, Herbert Moore of Picayune, MS, Margaret Yelder of Bay Minette, AL, Charles (Irene) Moore of Mobile, AL, Gregory (Debbie) Moore of Stamford, CT, Deborah (Mint) Reed of McIntosh, AL, Randall Moore of New Orleans, LA, Lelia Moore of Leroy, AL. Cicely (Orville) Branker of St Mary's, FL joined this family as a sister over fifty years ago. She had a special friendship with Jewel Rankins for sixty years who considered Mary more of a sister than a friend. She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Margaret Moore; her eldest sister Kathleen Smith; and grandparents.
