Matthew Shannon Clarke, a native of Jackson and resident of Semmes, departed this life on Nov. 27, 2024. He
was born on Oct. 1, 1959 to Edward Clarke Sr. and Frances Montgomery Clarke.
Matthew was a graduate of Harper High School; following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon
returning home, he worked construction and was very good with his hands, he enjoyed building and fixing things.
During his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Kendrick M. Clarke Yelder; and brothers, Edward Clarke Jr.,
Earnest Charles McReynolds, James McReynolds, Roosevelt Ezell and Mack Clarke.
Matthew leaves to cherish his memories five sons, Matthew Shannon Gordon Clarke Jr. of Coffeeville, Jejuna
Clarke of Mobile, DeWayne Taylor of Birmingham, Terrance Elder of Texas and Matthew Shannon (Krystal)
Hartley of Jackson; two daughters, Takashia (Corey) Jackson of Mobile and Andeaneka Royster of Bay Minette; a
host of grandchildren; five brothers, Reginald (Rose) Clarke of Grove Hill, Willie (Sandy) Clarke, Mark
(Evangerlean) Clarke and Larry (Clarisa) McReynolds, all of Jackson, and Andrey (Lisa) Clarke of Birmingham;
four sisters, Frances Clarke and Shelia King, both of Jackson, Edith Tarrant and Tracey, both of Birmingham; with a
host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
