Mattie Dean Chapman

Sis. Mattie Dean Chapman, a native and resident of the Winn community of Jackson, was born Feb. 27, 1953 to the parentage of the late Evans Chapman and Annie Mae (Johnson) Chapman. She departed this life Feb. 15, 2021 at USA University Hospital in Mobile.

Sis. Mattie was a 1974 Coffeeville High School graduate. Throughout her life, she was a member of the Winn Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God. During her membership, she was baptized and frequently sang solos during her attendance. Her most notable hobby was her love for watching soap operas.

Preceding her in death were her parents; five brothers, Richard Chapman, Lee Chapman, Samuel Chapman, the Rev. Lewis Chapman and Cristful Chapman; and two sisters, Mable Pope and Mary Lee Chapman.

Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Olean Martin of Jackson; brother, Aaron (Rev. Evelyn) Chapman; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Chapman of Grove Hill, Jessie Chapman of Lower Peach Tree and Johnnie Henderson of Las Vegas, Nev.; one devoted nephew, Joe Martin Jr.; with a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; three special friends, Jannie House and Lenora Bumpers, both of Jackson, and Sharon King of Atmore.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2:30 p.m., at Winn AOH Church of God, 942 Berry’s Chapel Road in Jackson. Overseer James Richardson, pastor, will be the eulogist.

Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson, AL 36545.
