Minoso Ray Warren was born on January 19, 1952, to the late Q. V. Chapman Sr. and Willie Rocker. He confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church No. 2. Later in life, he became a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church in Detroit, Michigan. After relocating back to Jackson, Alabama, he rededicated his life to Christ and joined New St.Matthews Missionary Baptist Church.

From their union, they were blessed with one daughter, Latisha (Tisha). After becoming a father, Ray began working for Detroit Edison, where he built a long and dedicated career until his retirement. Ray was an avid sports fan and took great joy in caring for his family. After retirement, his granddaughter (Ruby) became his full-time priority. Ray and Cleo later returned to Jackson, Alabama to be closer to family and friends before his health began to decline.
