Mary Louise Jackson Gully a native of Jackson, AL and resident of Leroy Community, traded
time for eternity on Friday, June 6, 2025 while at USA Medical Center in Mobile, AL. Mary was
born October 12, 1955 to parentage of Reverend Tommie Lee Jackson, Sr. and Elizabeth
Pearson Jackson in Jackson, AL.
Mary was a proud graduate of Jackson High School Class of 1973.
Early in life, Mary accepted Christ and united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church No. 2 in Jackson,
AL. On December 17, 1977 Mary Louise was united in marriage to Michael Anthony Gully, Sr.
and to this union they were blessed with two sons: Matthew A. Gully and Michael A. Gully, Jr.
After marriage, Mary united with the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Leroy, AL. There she
served as a Deaconess, choir member and kept the church parking clean.
Mary Louise enjoyed taking pictures, watching Auburn Tigers, watching basketball games and
she loved to ride with the Golden State Warriors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Tommie Lee Jackson, Sr. and Elizabeth
Pearson Jackson; her husband, Michael Anthony Gully, Sr.; son, Matthew A. Gully; brothers:
Tommie Lee Jackson, Jr. and Timmie Lee Jackson; and sister, Gretchen Jackson Graham.
Mary leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving son, Michael A. Gully of Leroy, AL;
sisters: Delia Ann Hunter of Montgomery, AL, Kenetha V. Jackson of Jackson, AL, Johnnie Lee
Tate of Mobile, AL, Daisy (Eddie) Bettis of Leroy, AL and Stacey (Henry) Moore of McKinney,
TX; brothers: Robert (Mary) Brook, Sr. of Los Angeles, CA, Larry (Angie) Harris of Mobile,
AL, Tommie Harris of Chattanoga, TN, Alonzo Jackson of Montgomery, AL, Anthony
(Vera) Camel of Monroeville, AL and Bobby (Angela) Stephens of Jackson, AL; aunts: Barbara
Pearson and Elmira Bonner both of Toxey, AL and Geraldine (Theodore) Henderson of
Gilbertown, AL; uncles: Woodrow Pearson of Butler, AL and Reverend Claude Ray Pearson of
Toxey, AL; and a host nieces, nephews, devoted nephew, Javaries Jackson; cousins, other
relatives and friends, devoted friend, Mary Kaye Daffin.
MICHAEL ANTHONY GULLY, SR.
ON JUNE 5, 2025, GOD SAID, “Job Well Done,
Thy Good and Faithful Servant, It is Time to Rest!”
Michael Anthony Gully, Sr., a native and resident of Leroy Community traded time
for eternity on Thursday, June 5, 2025 while at Jackson Medical Center. He was born on
April 10, 1956 to the parentage of Matthew Gully and Sarah Donald Gully in Leroy, AL.
Michael attended and graduated from Leroy High School Class of 1974. He was self-
employed Pulpwood operator and was employed by Willie Margaret and JP McKee.
Later years, he became employed with Scotch Lumber Company. After twenty-seven
years of dedicated service as a forklift operator, Michael retired.
He was a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of Leroy, AL where he
served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Finance Committee, and Trustee Board.
Michael loved fishing, celebrating holidays with family, gardening and helping
anyone in need of help.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Sarah Donald Gulley; his loving
wife, Mary Louise Jackson Gully; and his son, Matthew Gully.
Michael leaves to cherish his loving memories, his son, Michael Anthony Gully, Jr. of
Leroy, AL; Goddaughter, Earlisha Daffin; sisters: Julia Pugh of Winn, AL, Elizabeth
(Jimmie) King and Florence (Jimmie) Simon both of Leroy, AL and Constance (Robert)
Jones of Fayetteville, NC; brother, Jim (Charles Jean) Gully; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; special friends: Reverend Robert Collins
and Reverend Lee Bush.
